High Court ruling on London PHV operators

You may have seen that today the High Court handed down a judgment relating to how Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) operators in London contract with passengers. The Court has ruled that all London PHV Operators must contract directly with passengers and not act as an ‘agent’ between the driver and passenger.

The judgment applies to every private hire operator in London - not just Uber - meaning all operators will have to ensure that their business is consistent with the ruling or make changes to their business model.

We are committed to treating drivers as workers and providing all drivers across the UK with holiday pay, a guarantee to earn at least the minimum wage and access to a pension scheme. Today’s judgment does not change that.

We will be in touch in the new year with more information.
